Golden Sierra Cat Club is a volunteer-run animal welfare organization. We raise money for the shelters that house and treat cats, bring adoptable ones to the shows we run, and publish free guides for anyone looking after a cat.
Our programs
Three things, and only three
We are a small volunteer organization. Rather than duplicate what shelters already do well, we fund them, put their cats in front of the right audience, and teach the people who take one home.
Education
Free, plain-language guides on care, nutrition, grooming, and behaviour, written and reviewed by members and open to anyone.
Most harm to cats is not deliberate. It comes from advice that was wrong, or that nobody offered. Nothing here is behind a membership.
Funding shelters
We raise money and give it to animal shelters doing the expensive, unglamorous work of housing and treating cats.
Shelters already have the buildings, the licences, and the veterinary relationships. A small volunteer organization multiplies its effect by funding that capacity rather than duplicating it.
Adoptions at our shows
We bring adoptable shelter cats to the shows we run, and staff the table that introduces them to visitors.
A cat show is several hundred people who already like cats, many of them willing to take one home that day. It is the highest-intent audience a shelter cat is ever going to stand in front of.

How to help
Three things that actually move the needle
We are seeking public charity status, which depends on support from many people rather than a few. Small recurring gifts genuinely count for more here than their size suggests.
Give
Money raised goes to shelters. Small recurring gifts are the most useful kind — they let us tell a shelter what to expect instead of surprising them.
Work a show
The adoption table needs people who can talk to strangers all day and answer the same six questions cheerfully. It is the single most useful shift we have.
Come and meet them
Turn up to a show, meet the cats on the adoption table, and bring someone who has been thinking about it. Adoptions are the point of the day.
Start with one thing
Give once, take a shift on the adoption table, or just read a guide and pass it to someone who needs it. All three help.
Golden Sierra Cat Club is a volunteer-run animal welfare organization. Our application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is pending with the IRS, classified under Animal Protection and Welfare. Until that application is approved, contributions to the organization cannot be treated as tax-deductible charitable donations.
